Imagination

I want to focus your attention on the single most important aspect of our minds, our Imagination.

Sometimes we need to stop living in an external world and journey inward to a different world. That world is our personal  evolutionary journey made possible by our creativity and enabled by the most noble of our mental assets, imagination.

Exploring a problem to find a solution, connecting experiences from our past to understand some new aspect of ourselves, expanding knowledge that becomes wisdom, this is our journey and requires assistance from our imagination.

Inventing something new from something old whether it is an idea that benefits all of society or just makes our lives richer in some small way, requires imagination. Using imagination, in a unique meditation visualization to reach higher states of consciousness is among the highest and best use of imagination for seekers. The greatest observable outcome is using imagination to visualize our intention during meditation, to manifest the things we desire.

Fearless Motivation authored the following piece in August 2017 on 21 inspirational quotes involving imagination including some comments. I think these will greatly expand your understanding of imagination. I have added my comments and edited the few comments that were in the article to add clarity relative to peak meditation experience philosophy.

Quotes

1. The power of imagination created the illusion that my vision went much farther than the naked eye could actually see. – Nelson Mandela

Everyone uses their sight, but few people use their vision or trust their intuition to see. We are the creators of our lives but often do not know ourselves well enough to trust our instincts presented to us through our imagination. This is the very fabric from which every piece of the puzzle that we call life comes together. Before anything is manifested into existence, it is first dreamed and nourished in our imagination.

2. Imagination is more important that knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. – Albert Einstein

Knowledge trains our conscious mind, imagination taps into the potential of our subconscious mind. Imagination included with meditation taps into our infinite higher states of consciousness and intellect we call witnessing awareness, and some call the soul. Athletes visualize performance with all the details, as if it were happening for real. Those images become imbedded in the subconscious and lead to higher levels of performance. This process can also be added during meditation to create an intention and a plan for manifesting that intention. Einstein was right and it can happen for anyone of us.

3. Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere. – Carl Sagan

Imagination mirrors the way the universe and our minds works. It is revealing patterns for millions of people to understand their true reality. Imagination takes us to gaps in our knowledge that were never explored. Sometimes we believe we are creating unique things out of thin air, but most often we are bridging old ideas, and by using our imagination to fill  in a gap, we bring forth something new and different. Nobody could have thought many years ago that we could experience Virtual Reality but after years of evolving technologies from others, it happened because of one person’s imagination filled in the gaps to create it.

4. The world is a canvas for your imagination. You are the painter. There are NO RULES. Get to work.- Henry David Thoreau

This fits into our exploration of Who Am I and What is our Purpose. The world is a canvas on which we draw our life with the creative use of imagination. We need to discover who we are, our innate talents, our desires and passion and then bring them to life. There really are no limits to what anyone can create.

5. Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age and dreams are forever. – Walt Disney

You are as young or as old as your dreams. Many people have everything handed to them in life. But they don’t enjoy it because they have nothing to chase, no dream to fuel their spirit. Believe in your dreams no matter your age, laugh be lighthearted and playful with the universe. Treat life like a game, get lost in the beauty of nature and our world to inspire your imagination. Those who have not made the effort to explore their purpose in life often miss the vitality imagination can bring to them.

6. The man who has no imagination has no wings. – Muhammad Ali

We must have our feet on the ground in order to have a strong foundation. One man’s imagination can change the lives, thoughts, and beliefs of millions or even billions of people. Ali was such a man. If we persist with passion toward a dream and have reaffirming confirmations in our meditations the universe is inclined to cooperate and give us what we are seeking.

7. The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.- Albert Einstein

We should definitely read books; reading is the mark of a curious mind. But we should use that knowledge to nurture our imagination to find the gap it may fill in bringing forth something new. It is imagination that fuels our spirit and urges us to chase an innate vision. Knowledge helps inspire the journey; imagination builds the bridge to a new idea.

8. Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality. – Lewis Carroll

Reality isn’t always pleasant, terrorism, poverty, illness, child abuse, global warming all point to a world is that broken. But with the power of imagination, we can create solutions to all problems and make a difference. Each of our realities has the potential for changing the world in some way. Even if a little bit at a time until a larger problem can be overcome. Our ideas may be the start of the solution that solves the problem 3-generations later by the imagination of another.

9. What is now proved was once only imagined. – William Blake

Entrepreneurs are the new kings and queens of society replacing the aristocracy of our ancestors. They are celebrated for their creativity. Everything we have known in our external world was created out of imagination from our internal world. From our ancestors who created fire with stones to today’s forward-thinking entrepreneurs, everyone has the potential to use their imagination to create useful things and works of art that add beauty to the world.

10. If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it. – William Arthur Ward

Our task is to tame our minds by overcoming fear and ridding ourselves of old beliefs that no longer service us well, so that imagination can cultivate creative solutions we can make positive use of. Our hearts have no limits, it is the mind we need to discipline. Our minds can create limits and fears that can stop us in our tracks. It can also make us feel confident in our abilities by having us believe in the possibilities for the future. Your meditation practice is your greatest asset in brining your mind into harmony with your imagination.

11. Imagination is the soil that brings dreams to life. – Anonymous

In today’s fast paced world, many people have lost touch with their inner world. We search for a Wi-Fi connection everywhere but have lost the inner intuitive connection with our imagination. The inner world of our imagination can bring our dreams to life. It is a pity that many people never visualize their future and never truly exercise their power to create. Find a path of self-exploration that allows you to see your life experiences grouped together, to form a larger lesson.

Imaginations greatest purpose is to fill the gaps in our lives that can bring us peace, serenity and joy that clears the path for other creative endeavors. We must have courage as creators and imagination can help identify fears and clear the path to courage especially in concert with meditation.

12. Your imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions. – Albert Einstein

This is the law of probability and bridging our experiences to work together. If we continue in our same old patterns and expect a different result the outcome is predictable. Imagining a new way to be increases the probability of success. People say we cannot predict the future. Actually, we can see a large part of the future. We can have a preview of how things will unfold by looking at our thoughts, actions, and dominant beliefs. How we act today determines how life unfolds tomorrow. Courage must be present and old beliefs and fears  must be set aside to fully enable the imagination.

13. We are more often frightened than hurt, and we suffer more from imagination than from reality. – Seneca

This is what the great teachers like Buddha and others have pointed out for thousands of years. The worst thing we can do is suffer in our imagination. People get tormented by fears that will never become real, they suffer from regrets due to events that should no longer dictate their reality and yet they don’t let go of them. They are torn between the past and the future. We need to run our imagination instead of letting it run us. We can organize our minds and get past the survival instincts that generate fears in us, this is a teachable skill.

14. Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will. – George Bernard Shaw

Passion, excitement, and a clear vision in one’s imagination greatly enhances the probability of a favorable outcome. We act a certain way because we believe a certain way in our imagination. We do things because we see the rewards in our imagination. Therefore, all creation is rooted in our imagination.

15. Bring ideas in and entertain them royally, for one of them may be the king. – Mark Van Doren

Forming an idea in your imagination and then taking smaller steps using smaller affirmations along the way increase ones belief in its possibility and the overall probability of success. People often get ideas, but they don’t act on them because of fear of failure. Never doubt your imagination. Have the courage to act on your creative ideas and you’ll be surprised to learn what you can accomplish. You can explore your inner-self through meditation to find the fears and program them out of your subconscious to unlock your potential.

16. I have too much imagination to be a housewife. – Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe probably made this statement in the 50’s yet her imagination allowed her to act as though she lived in today’s world. It is in our power to decide how far we will go and how we will live. We don’t have to work 9 to 5, we don’t have to be rich to travel, we don’t have to pay bills and die. Break all the “rules” because they were created by people who didn’t follow them in the first place.

17. Reality leaves a lot to the imagination. – John Lennon

Reality is created by imagination, and it is an ongoing process from thought to thought to evolve that which was just created. The world is a process just like our bodies are a process. In the time it has taken you to read this your body has created millions of new cells and within a few years it will completely regenerate itself. What is reality? What is the “real” way to live? How should things work? The irony is that the answer itself lies in our imagination. We are not in our bodies or even in the universe those things are constructs of the imagination. They exist within us as reality that can be modified, imagination is the first step in this activity in consciousness modification.

18. The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment.  – Tony Robbins

Begin your meditation by asking yourself “What do I Want” this leads to an exploration within your highest states of consciousness and will give you the best road map for you intentions.. We become good at the things we want so find out what those things are, the answers are within you. Once you match your talent with your desires, your potential is limitless.

19. Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless. – Jamie Paolinetti

Do what you want to do, discover your own truth, and live that. Use your imagination to  change your life so you are not always living by someone else’s rules and see how your life changes.

20. There are certain half-dreaming moods of mind in which we naturally steal away from noise and glare and seek some quiet haunt where we may indulge our reveries and build our air castles undisturbed. – Washington Irving

A “half dreaming mood” is a definition for a daydream which is an altered sate of waking consciousness. It stills the ego and gives one access to their higher intellect and creative potential much like meditation. Everyone loves to dream. As children, we were told to dream, allowed to dream, encouraged to dream but as adults, many of us have lost that skill. This skill can be reacquired through meditation,

21. Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world. – Oscar Wilde

Dreamers who pay attention to their deepest instincts in the mind, subconscious and higher-self discover future trends others miss out on. They intuitively feel everything and rely on things like “the gut feeling” we all have from time to time. Be willing to trust and accept that you know more than your conscious mind is telling you, allow your intuition to have a seat at the table of your life.

I will leave you with this final thought; we are co-creators of our lives and partners with the greatest imagination of all, beyond the stars, beyond the universe into to the infinite void. That partner of ours is pure awareness, the first cause, god if you like. I think of it as the other half of us. It is the algorithm in our virtual reality that spontaneously focuses its imagination to have the universe provide what our imagination requires to manifest and create the life we want. This is true oneness; our imagination and consciousness is one with it, as it is one with us. It wants us to have what we want by learning what we truly are through the evolution of our consciousness, making choices and creating our world through love. If we cannot create the thing our imagination has dreamt up it will give us a lesson to learn so that we can acquire the skills we need to manifest something greater. That something greater is to come to know our authentic self and what we truly are.
